Chapter 4: Waves & Functions
Assessment: Assignment & exam
Week 5 - FridayIn-class task TODAY. See sheet for details. You must have your own graphics calculator.
Week 5 - TuesdayWe're going to collect data for our assignment today.
Extra data to practice fitting a curve to is at right. Also link below pages 3 & 11 have data to fit. Try both by calculator and by hand. Week 5 - MondayNote that I have uploaded the assignment tasks. The criteria sheet & cover sheet will be uploaded separately.
The assignment has two parts: *TASK 1: done in class under exam conditions this Friday (I will be away). *TASK 2: you will collect data together in pairs during class time Tuesday, but will need to analyse the data yourselves. Week 4 - WednesdayWeek 3 - FridayFinding a model for periodic graphs.
Ex 4.3 Q 6 - all. HW Q 7 Using an equation to predict values Handout Ex 5F - Q 1, 2 (I don't have electronic copy for website) Week 3 - TuesdayBefore you start, make sure your calculator is in RAD mode, not degrees.
HW: Ex 4.3 Q 2 (all parts), Q3 (a,c,e), Q4 (all) Also write the period and amplitude for each graph you draw. You must have a graphics calculator for this unit and for the assignment. I will not be lending mine out next week. Week 3 - Monday1. Finish Ex 4.2 Q 1, 3 and 4. You will need to draw a graph for Q 4.
2. Models of periodic functions using the calculator - YOU MUST HAVE A GRAPHICS CALCULATOR TO COMPLETE THIS EXERCISE. (sheet at right>>>) 3. Do Ex 4.1 Q 1. Copy a quick sketch of each graph onto your notebook. Week 2 - Thursday1. Draw the graph y = cos x onto the same grid in another colour. You will have to make your own table of values.
2. Ex 4.2 Q 1 a & b and try c Week 2 - Monday1. Ex 4.1 Q 6
2. Finish "An Important Periodic Graph" - (sheet at right>>>) Week 1 - FridayFeatures of periodic functions
*look at pendulum * look at circle path * look at tides at SEABREEZE Ex 4.1 Q 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 We'll do Q 6 on Monday. |
